About Our Founder
Zelda Simms is a highly-trained professional dancer with a diverse range of skills
and experiences in the world of dance. Her formal training began at the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington D.C., where she specialized in ballet, contemporary, tap, and jazz. She further honed her craft as a dance major with a concentration in choreography and staging at Anne Arundel Community College.
Throughout her dance career, Zelda has had the privilege of working as a backup dancer for
renowned artists such as T.I., Fantasia, Lil' Mo, Memphis Bleek, and Juelz Santana, among others. Her talent extends beyond performing, as she has also made a name for herself as a choreographer. Notable collaborations include working with X Factor contestant David Correy of Urban Rock Records, and producer Kolten Perine. In these roles, Zelda has excelled as a Choreographer, Artist Developer, Performance Coach, Creative Director, and Tour/Stage creator for various artists.
With over 20 years of professional experience, Zelda has also dedicated herself to teaching and training aspiring dancers.
Many of her students have gone on to achieve success in the industry, landing roles in hit musicals such as The Lion King, Brothers of the Night, and as members of the Brooklynettes Dance team.
These talented individuals have even been featured in prominent publications like Dance Magazine. Zelda's passion for dance education has led her to expand her repertoire, branching out into adjudicating and mentoring as well.
Driven by her love for working with dancers one-on-one and recognizing that dancers are athletes,
Zelda founded 5678 Nation. This platform allows her to provide personalized attention and support to dancers, focusing on their unique needs. With a keen eye for detail,
Zelda offers valuable feedback on technique, provides targeted exercises to strengthen specific muscles, and emphasizes the importance of conditioning, anatomy, and the fundamentals of clean execution in turns, leaps, and jumps.
By instilling hands-on understanding and muscle memory techniques, Zelda ensures the longevity of dancers' careers and empowers dancers to reach their highest potential.
